Six to 18 months before

[  ] Select a Wedding date and time
[  ] Set a preliminary budget
[  ] Determine wedding theme, style and color
[  ] Reserve ceremony and reception location
[  ] Determine who will officiate the ceremony
[  ] Hire a wedding consultant, if using one
[  ] Determine the size of guest list
[  ] Start compiling names and addresses of guests
[  ] Select bridal attendants and groomsmen
[  ] Select one usher for every 50 guests
[  ] Plan Reception
[  ] Check catering options
[  ] Make arrangements for the music at the wedding and reception
[  ] Select professional photographer and videographer
[  ] Make all transportation arrangements to and from the wedding and the reception: limousine, party   
      bus, trolley or horse-drawn carriage
[  ] Select a professional florist

[  ] Select a professional decorator
[  ] Reserve any rentals (tables, chairs, chair coverings, linens)
[  ] Select bride's dress, headpiece and bridesmaids' dresses
[  ] Announce engagement in the newspaper

Four months before
[  ] Shop and order wedding rings, allow time for any final engraving
[  ] Make final arrangements for ceremony (pay deposits, sign contracts)
[  ] Make sure all bridal attire is ordered
[  ] Have mothers select their dresses
[  ] Register at a bridal registry in the towns of all appropriate families
[  ] Order invitations (25 extra) and personal stationary or thank you notes
[  ] Order napkins and purchase other items needed for the ceremony & reception
[  ] Visit the photographer again to discuss specifics
[  ] Order flowers and floral arrangements for the wedding and reception
[  ] Order balloons, decorations and favors for wedding and reception
[  ] Complete the guest lists and compile them in order
[  ] Select and reserve the men's wedding attire
[  ] Check the requirements for blood tests and marriage licenses in your state
[  ] Make appointment for a physical exam
[  ] Start planning the honeymoon
[  ] Decide where you will live after the wedding

Two months before
[  ] Address the invitations and announcements, which should be mailed four to six weeks before
     the wedding (eight weeks to out-of-town guests)
[  ] Finalize all details with the caterer, photographer, florist, reception hall manager, musicians, etc.
[  ] Order wedding cake
[  ] Finalize ceremony details with officiant
[  ] Set date and time for rehearsal and rehearsal dinner
[  ] Make appointments with hair salon
[  ] Arrange accommodations for out-of-town attendants, guests and family members
[  ] Finalize honeymoon plans

One month before
[  ] Fill out and submit application for the marriage license
[  ] Have final fitting for bride's and attendants' gowns
[  ] Finalize music list with band or DJ
[  ] Attend bridal showers-keep careful record of all gifts received
[  ] Complete all physical or dental appointments
[  ] Confirm arrangments for transportation
[  ] Purchase gifts for the attendants
[  ] Decide on/purchase going-away outfit
[  ] Confirm all accessories, toasting goblets, ring pillow, garter, candles, cake cutting utensil, etc.
[  ] Select reponsible person(s) to handle guest book

Two weeks before
[  ] Make sure the wedding gown is pressed and steamed
[  ] Get necessary forms to change names on Social Security card, driver's license, bank accounts, etc.
[  ] Prepare wedding announcement for newspaper
[  ] Reconfirm accommodations for out-of-town guests
[  ] Arrange to have possesions and gifts delivered to new home
[  ] Finish addressing wedding announcements to be mailed on the wedding day

One week before
[  ] Contact guests who have not responded
[  ] Give final guest count to caterer, bakery, reception hall manager, etc.
[  ] Go over final details with all professional services you have engaged and inform them of any changes
[  ] Send reminders to the rehearsal dinner attendees about the location & time
[  ] Give photographer and videographer a list of shots you want
[  ] Plan toasts for receptions to include family members, children, etc.
[  ] Plan the seating arrangements
[  ] Plan the lineup for the receiving line
[  ] Arrange for someone to assist with last-minute errands and to help bride dress
[  ] Pack for the honeymoon
[  ] Make sure you have marriage license
[  ] Check that you have the wedding rings
[  ] Make sure all wedding attire is picked up and fits

On the Wedding Day
[  ] Bride should have hair (bring headpiece to  beauty salon) and makeup done four hours before the 
     ceremony, nails done the day prior
[  ] Make sure you eat something
[  ] Make sure the ushers have the final guest list
[  ] Start dressing one and a half hours before the ceremony
[  ] If pictures are being taken before the ceremony, bridal party should be ready two hours before
     the ceremony
[  ] Schedule the music to start 30 minutes before the ceremony.
[  ] Five minutes before the ceremony, have groom's parents seated.  Immediately before the procession,
     the bride's mother is seated and the aisle runner is rolled out.

After the Wedding
[  ] Contact a flower preservation service to preserve your bouquet
[  ] Contact a gown preservation service to hand clean, press and preserve your bridal gown
[  ] Send an announcement and wedding picture to newspapers

[  ] Write and mail thank-you notes
[  ] Focus on making your marriage a success!
